From Years of Doubt to a Clear Purpose: My Journey

The Day I Found My Life’s Purpose

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been chasing my interests, trying new things without knowing where I was heading.
Since I was 19, my life has been a series of challenges. While I enjoyed exploring new fields, I often wondered, “What’s my ultimate goal? What am I striving for?”

Today, I finally realized the answer.
Everything came together.

What I want to dedicate my life to is making myself and others happy.
It may sound idealistic, but it’s my truth. And the moment I felt this clarity, I was overwhelmed with joy.

A Journey of Uncertainty and Joyful Learning

Whenever someone asked me, “What’s your dream? Your goal? Where are you heading?”—I could never give a clear answer.
I simply didn’t know. I had so many interests, but I couldn’t figure out how to connect them to a career or a purpose.

I’ve always been fascinated by psychology, behavioral economics, nutrition, music, and linguistics (especially the differences between English and Japanese). Every time I dive into these fields, I feel a spark of excitement.
Through studying psychology, I discovered that it’s a field dedicated to understanding how we can increase happiness—for ourselves and others—by exploring the workings of the mind. That realization deeply resonated with me.

Experiencing Struggles—My Own and Others’

I’ve always felt a sense of unease in life, even though I was considered a “good student” who followed all the rules. Teachers would often describe me as “serious and hardworking,” yet I frequently struggled with feelings of sadness or frustration.

Around me, I noticed friends who faced their own challenges.
One friend was kind and empathetic but ended up relying on alcohol and smoking. Another fell into unhealthy dependency in a relationship. These are people I’ve known for years, people with beautiful hearts.

I began to wonder: Why does this happen? Is there something I can do to help?
It became clear to me that I want to support people who feel stuck or overwhelmed by life—to help them find happiness and peace.

How English Opened My World

What transformed my life was learning English. Studying abroad allowed me to see just how vast the world is.
Learning about the differences between English and Japanese, and exploring the nuances of communication and culture, brought me so much joy. It even improved my mental health.

Then, as I delved deeper into psychology, I discovered positive psychology, cognitive science, and process-oriented approaches. These concepts lightened my heart and sparked a desire to learn even more.

My Vision for the Future

Now, I’m finally clear about what I want to achieve.
I want to help people who feel lost or weighed down by life to lighten their burdens and find happiness.
To do this, I’ll continue studying psychology, nutrition, and linguistics—exploring how the mind, body, and communication can come together to create a better life for all.

This is a feeling I never want to forget. That’s why I’ve written it down here, to preserve this moment of clarity and purpose.
